Busy, Busy, Busy!

Sorry I haven't written lately, y'all. I am right in the middle of preparations to move and start a new job, and have kicked the diet/exercise into high gear. Since I last wrote I've lost 20 pounds! That makes thirty since the start of the year!
Anyhow, I'm fine, I'm busy, I'm trying to bring organization to the chaos that is my life, and am making progress towards being debt free!
Sorry for all the exclamation points, I'm in a hurry, so they seem appropriate...

My local paper just picked up your blog via the DMN, but I'd like to respond to an earlier post anyway, since I've only just seen them.

My sister is a lesbian. Growing up, she dated boys/men. She was nearly 30 when she first sought out a female companion. She is not a Christian.

I am straight, very happily married, with one daughter. I am a born again Christian (Catholic - yes, we have real Christians in our church).

However, I am not writing to criticize, or anything in that vein. I have a question (or two).

My beliefs are/were roughly the same as yours as regards homosexuality. But I have known a number of gay people over the years, and none ever said they "chose" their orientation. Neither did I - I only ever remember being attracted to males - sometimes too much!!

When my sister "came out", nothing changed between us. We are still close. In fact, no one in our extended family has yet made an issue out of it.

Now my daughter has a friend at school who has two moms (one biological). They are one of the nicest families we know. Friends of theirs, another lesbian couple w/3 adopted children, go to my church, serve at mass & teach religious ed. They are actually more involved with the church than me & my husband.

For myself, I have decided that h.s. is not my problem to solve. I have had tendencies toward certain sins, and had a very hard time praying my way out of it. They are a thorn in my side (just like Paul wrote in his letters).

I once heard a discussion of bible verses that appear to support homosexuality, and ones that appear to forbid it. Why has God allowed this ambiguity? Why create people this way & then condemn them?

Have you come to any conclusions about this? I'd like to know your thoughts, even if they are a "work in progress".
